Psalm 23: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters. 3 He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

La Romana, founded in 1897, evolved from a small fishing village into a significant industrial and tourist hub, primarily due to the sugar industry and later tourism development.

Early History and Founding

La Romana’s history began in the late 19th century, with its official founding date in 1897 when it was established as a trading port specializing in timber export. The city’s name, “La Romana,” is derived from the large Roman scales (in Spanish, “la romana”) used in the local port for weighing goods.

Economic Development

The city’s transformation accelerated with the construction of the Central Romana sugar mill in 1917, which became the backbone of the local economy. This development attracted a diverse workforce from various parts of the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean, leading to a multicultural community. The sugar industry dominated the economy for decades, and La Romana became known as a “company town,” with the Central Romana Corporation owning much of the local infrastructure and providing employment for nearly the entire population.

In 1967, the American corporation Gulf + Western acquired the sugar mill, further investing in the region’s infrastructure, including schools and healthcare facilities for workers. The company also diversified the economy by developing tourism, leading to the establishment of the Casa de Campo resort in 1974, which marked the beginning of La Romana’s reputation as a tourist destination.

Cultural Landmarks and Tourism

The construction of Altos de Chavón, a replica of a 16th-century Mediterranean village, began in 1976 and became a cultural landmark, hosting various artistic events and performances. The Altos de Chavón Amphitheater, opened in 1982, has hosted numerous international artists, enhancing La Romana’s cultural scene.

Modern Era

In the 21st century, La Romana has continued to grow as a tourist destination, with the opening of the La Romana International Airport in 2000, facilitating direct access for international visitors. Today, while sugar production remains part of the economy, La Romana is primarily known for its luxury resorts, beautiful beaches, and vibrant cultural heritage, making it a popular choice for travelers seeking both relaxation and adventure.

La Romana’s history reflects the broader narrative of the Dominican Republic, showcasing its journey from indigenous settlement to a diverse, tourism oriented economy, enriched by its industrial past and cultural landmarks.

February 11, 2026. Yesterday was led to stay in to also let the people in the area absorb all that has been ministered to them, around the place the Holy Spirit has me, the Holy Spirit did have me send specific scripture from the Bible and this page for the discipleship and teaching with the Book of Matthew that is in this page to specific people in the area that have given me their number. Also being very attacked mentally and body wise during the night, praying and listening to the Bible helps as well as watching a Holy Spirit filled series called the chosen that relives the Gospels, good news of Jesus. Today woke up, ate a slice of bread with cream cheese and a Capuchino that was bought yesterday and placed in the minifridge that is in the room. Felt nauseous as the sink needs a deep cleaning and for whatever reason it makes me really nauseous, as well as some things in the room, possibly sensing the situations that have happened in the room, hotels, motels and places where a lot of people have stayed carry a lot of situations that are felt in the spirit, but always praying for the place to be filled with the Holy Spirit as people get to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. There is a big Haitian population that work here who are the ones who clean and do the maintenance. Google translate helps to spread the Good News of Jesus when we do not speak the language and many understand Spanish. Heard to get ready to go to the local precinct where people are detained and then go to the hospital. On Monday I was led to go to the precinct and was not allowed to pray and share the Good News of Jesus with the motor taxi stating that it is very hard for people to go in not knowing that when the Holy Spirit wants us somewhere HE makes a way. Like when the Holy Spirit first called me and had me go to a local park in the area where HE had me, someone had offered for me to take the chaplain class that gives people a batch to be able to go into places to bring the message of God, but the Holy Spirit in the second round told me that HE would open the doors that needed to open when HE needed me to go thru. Ever since then 2015 wherever the Holy Spirit has sent me even though there is some persecution, opposition and everything else Matthew 5 states that we go thru as our war is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, as we read in Ephesians 6:10-18, the Lord’s purposes for the souls get accomplished as until everyone has heard the Good News of Jesus hears it the Lord is not coming back as we read in Matthew 24.

In the jail there were a few men who look and felt in the spirit as they had gone thru a lot to get there, they were called out of the cell, placed in front of me and the Good News of Jesus was given to them, having them say the prayer of salvation as the Holy Spirit led and then reading Psalms 23 as heard to read to them. All for the souls in the Great Commission. I was led to give the Good News of Jesus paper to the police and everyone who came in and out of the place then leave in another motor taxi to the public hospital of the town. I then heard to go and give the Good News of Jesus paper to the people in the Hospital including the staff, public hospitals are very underfunded and need a lot of prayers to be able to provide all that is needed when people come to get checked. After I was led to go get lunch in the restaurant downstairs from the Hotel the Holy Spirit has me in. I was led to leave the key for the room to be well cleaned and explained to the woman that all the dirt in the bathroom sink was making me nauseous. I was also thru the translation app led to give her the Good News of Jesus in French, as the translation app does not have creole, but she understood and said she is a Christian too.

In the restaurant as food as to be bought every day, as there is no access to cooking, but it is also for the Lord’s purpose to reach the souls could be accomplished there is a young man the Holy Spirit has been speaking to since bringing me here on Friday and giving the Good News of Jesus as people came in and out of the restaurant, as I ate I heard to put some worship on the phone to be heard in the restaurant, then go to the room, get the computer and share this testimony for today. I was then led to ASK for an offering this morning and I am waiting for their response, as the money I have in the purse is finishing and some needed personal items need to be bought as well as money for the food, transportation, maing copies of the Good News of Jesus papers and anything else needed for the Souls in the Great Commission. I was led to then do the laundry asking the workers to show me how to use the machine, as in each place the machine and the water systems are different, and praying for some as the Holy Spirit led.

Thankful for all who are praying for both my daughter and I, as well as those who are and have been of moentary support.
