Before reading the scriptures from the Bible mentioned here and in the Bible it self, whether on your phone, tablet, computer, or the physical Bible; always ask the Holy Spirit to let you understand what HE needs you to understand and put into practice, in Jesus name.
When Lord, God is mentioned in any of the post on this page with a capital G it is making reference to Jesus Christ, Holy Spirit.
In the Bible, forgiveness is the act of pardoning someone who has wronged you. It’s a powerful act of love that can lead to healing, peace, and a closer relationship with God.
How is forgiveness defined in the Bible?
- The Greek word translated as “forgiveness” means “to let go”
- Forgiveness is an act of love that involves letting go of resentment and giving up any claim to be compensated
- Forgiveness is a spiritual deliverance that’s necessary to continue
- Forgiveness is an act of the will, not based on whether the person deserves it
How does forgiveness benefit us?
- Forgiveness can free us from resentment and chains that alienate us from God and others
- Forgiveness can bring us closer to God and help us live a more fulfilling life
- Forgiveness is a source of healing and power
How does forgiveness apply to our lives?
- Jesus taught us to pray, “Forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is in debt to us”
- We should forgive as many times as necessary
- We should forgive those who sin against us
The Bible includes many verses about forgiveness, including Matthew 6:14-15, Luke 6:37, Colossians 3:13, Ephesians 4:32 and Ephesians 6:10-18.
Matthew 6:14-15
- “For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses”.
Luke 6:37
- “Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven”.
Colossians 3:13
- “Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive”.
Ephesians 4:32
- Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
Ephesians 6: 10-18
- 10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we[a] are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.[b] 16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.[c] 17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
In the Bible, reconciliation is the process of restoring a relationship between two people or groups after a disagreement. It can also refer to restoring a relationship with God. Reconciliation happens when the people involved have repented of their past transgressions against the God(sin), have received Jesus as their Lord and Savior, therefore getting baptized by water submersion and receiving the anointing of the Holy Spirit so forgiveness can be understood and there can be reconciliation. The same process goes for those who need to reconcile with God.
Reconciliation with God
- God reconciled the world to himself through Jesus Christ
- Reconciliation with God is possible through faith
- Reconciliation with God allows people to live as God intended
- Reconciliation with God is a change in one’s relationship with God, not a change in God himself
Reconciliation between people
- Reconciliation between people involves repentance, restitution, and rehabilitation
- Reconciliation between people involves forgiving one another
- Reconciliation between people involves setting aside pride and resentment
- Reconciliation between people involves rebuilding trust
Examples of reconciliation in the Bible
- The reconciliation of Jacob and Esau, told in Genesis chapters 32 and 33
- Joseph forgiving his brothers, told in Genesis chapter 50, verses 12-21
Bible verses about reconciliation
- Ephesians 2:16 “And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby”.
- 2 Corinthians 5:17-21—God reconciled the world to himself through Christ.
- Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind and tender-hearted to one another, and forgive one another, as God has forgiven you through Christ”.
- Ephesians 5:1-14—You were once in darkness; now you are light in the Lord, so walk as children of light.
- 1 John 1:5-10, 2:1-2—If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all injustice.
We must seek the Holy Spirit in every situation, as He will also give us the wisdom we need to know whether we just need to forgive and how to do it, and whether we need to reconcile with the person or stay away from them. Read James 1.
The Lord, Jesus, Holy Spirit does not expect us to do understand forgiveness, reconciliation or anything else alone, the Lord wants to walk this life’s journey’s with HIM. The creator of the universe wants to help us carry all of our burdens and life’s decisions. In the Holy Spirit, thru giving our lives to Jesus we find all of the answers, as the Bible is our manual. 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
The way to become born again and experience all that God, Jesus, Holy Spirit has for us, such as forgiveness, reconciliation, healing, restoration, hope, identity, eternal life, purpose of your life and much more:
We recognize we are sinners (Romans 3:23) and that the penalty for that sin is death (Romans 6:23). Because of our sin, we can’t know and experience God’s love and we are spiritually separated from Him. To remedy our situation, God came as the Holy Spirit thru Jesus—to take the penalty for our sins (Romans 5:8). After Jesus’ death, He rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:3-6). Jesus is our only way to God (John 14:6) and He gives us the gift of salvation. We can receive God’s gift through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9) and experience new birth (John 3:1-8). Receiving Jesus means trusting Him to come into our lives to forgive our sins and make us what He desires. Make the decision to receive Jesus now, and accept His gift of salvation, you can express this in a prayer to God. This is not a ritual based on specific words, but rather, a prayerful guideline for your sincere step of faith.

Take time to read the writings/Scriptures from the Bible mentioned here, and ask Jesus to help you understand what HE needs you to understand. Take the time to give your life to Jesus, get baptized as soon as possible by submersion in water, and pray for a community of faith to grow and learn with. Read the Bible every day, giving each day to the Holy Spirit, thanking and surrendering everything to Jesus.
